Corina Radu, DMD
As a board-certified orthodontic specialist, I am committed to helping my patients with all their orthodontic needs. I am proud to offer free consultations for patients of all ages, with many orthodontic treatment options that are individualized to everyone’s lifestyle and needs. With 20 years of experience in the clinical trenches, I personally see each patient at each visit to ensure he or she receives the best possible care and outcome.
My Educational Background
Born, raised, and college-educated in Europe-Romania, I won a diversity visa lottery in 1995 and with it, the right to immigrate legally to the US. In 1999, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and my certificate in orthodontics from Children’s National Hospital/George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 2001. I served the US as a dentist and captain in the US Army Reserves from 2001 to 2004, and again as an orthodontist contractor in Germany between 2015 and 2016 during a working sabbatical.
Dedication to Continual Study
I strive to be an open-minded clinician: committed to providing outstanding service for my patients and always incorporating new techniques into my practice. In addition to being board-certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, I attend numerous orthodontic education courses and limit my practice exclusively to orthodontics.
My Treatment Approach
The focus of my treatment approach is to create harmony between facial beauty and a healthy dentition. My extensive training and experience with the right diagnosis, treatment, and compliance can help patients as young as age seven eliminate the need for permanent tooth extractions. In many of these cases, select extractions of baby teeth, combined with palatal expansion and growth modifications /orthopedic treatments, can help patients avoid surgical and restorative procedures in later years.
My niche is treating adult patients with complex orthodontic, periodontal, and jaw disharmony problems in an interdisciplinary setting — collaborating with your general dentist and other specialists such as periodontists and oral surgeons.
My interdisciplinary practice specializes in implant therapy, orthopedic palatal expansion in children and adults, orthodontics for adults and children, diagnosis and management of jaw deficiencies in patients with sleep apnea, and congenitally missing and impacted teeth, as well as TMJ-TMD treatment. I also offer surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy (Wilckodontics®) with bone grafting to avoid the need for extractions, and enhance the bone and gum support for better aesthetics and stable function for the years to come.
