Meet Board-Certified Orthodontist

Dr. Corina Radu

As a board-certified orthodontic specialist, I am committed to helping my patients with all their orthodontic needs. I am proud to offer FREE consultations with panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, pictures, digital 3D scans, and 3D CBCTs for patients of all ages.

With so many orthodontic treatment options, I will help you sift through the clutter, discuss multiple options and select what fits your lifestyle and individual needs. With 20 years of experience in the clinical trenches, I personally see each patient at each visit to ensure they receive the best possible care and outcome.

We offer multiple options to align the teeth and correct bites, provide stability, periodontal health, help with a good night's sleep/breathing, and, most importantly, achieve facial balance and harmony.

Vast Education & Experience

Born, raised, and college-educated in Europe-Romania, I won a Diversity Visa lottery in 1995 and the right to immigrate legally to the U.S.

In 1999, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania and my certificate in orthodontics from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 2001.

I proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a general dentist and Captain from 2001 to 2004.

Recently, I worked again for the military as a board-certified orthodontic contractor in Kaiserslautern, Germany, during a working sabbatical.

I continue to learn by participating in numerous orthodontic education courses annually to bring the latest treatment methodologies to my patients.

Why Orthodontics?

I strive to be an open-minded clinician. In doing so, I've committed myself to provide outstanding service to my patients and incorporating new and effective techniques into my practice.

We use just about anything that can move teeth and jaws faster and more predictable: We tried them all so we know what works and what does not. In addition to being board-certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, I attend numerous orthodontic educational courses every year and try to incorporate the best of everything in the quest for helping our patients get a perfect smile.

When designing new smiles, we plan to enhance all the facial features and create harmony between facial beauty and healthy dentition. My extensive training and experience can help patients as young as seven eliminate the need for permanent teeth extractions and avoid surgical and restorative procedures in later years.

My Treatment Philosophy

I love the aesthetic focus of my specialty and the complexity of the cases I take on. My niche is designing new smiles to facilitate better breathing and facial harmony. I enjoy treating complex adult cases in an interdisciplinary setting: working with general dentists, periodontists, and oral surgeons to address severe problems.

I am also helping severe OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) patients minimize their dependency on CPAP machines, improve their smiles, achieve a more harmonious jawline, enjoy a good night’s sleep, and overall better quality of life.

My interdisciplinary practice specializes in implant therapy performed by our associates via sedation, orthopedic palatal expansion in children and adults, orthodontics for adults and children, diagnosis and management of jaw deficiencies in patients with sleep apnea and congenitally missing and impacted teeth, as well as those seeking TMJ/TMD treatment.

I also offer Propel MOPS (micro osseous perforations) and VPro high-frequency vibration devices, besides surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy (Wilckodontics®) with bone grafting to speed up and increase the predictability of treatment, avoid the need for extractions, and enhance the bone and gum support for better aesthetics and stable function for years to come for moderate to challenging cases.

In addition, we help older patients regain their confidence and smile by helping them stabilize loose dentures with affordable mini-implants that do not require extensive bone grafting or a fortune to pay for them.

As a former resident of Elmhurst for 10+ years, I take great pride in the reputation of my practice and the signature smiles I created, and I truly enjoy meeting my patients in person at every appointment.

Life Outside the Office

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my three children, Julia, Alex, and Johnny. They all had expanders and braces and seem to understand my work from the patient’s point of view. You may see them at different times helping in the office with various tasks: from instrument sterilization to assisting chairside and even doing some minor landscaping.

When I’m not at the office, I love to travel and experience new cultures. Trying ethnic foods, hiking, and riding my scooter off the beaten path are my favorite hobbies. I also enjoy DIY projects such as remodeling, gardening, cooking, streaming foreign movies, and attempting to bake cakes from scratch for my kids’ birthdays.
