What Veneers Are

Teeth veneer is a cosmetic treatment that includes special braces. These covers are made of durable composite materials that look and feel like your real tooth enamel. With veneers, you can brush your teeth and floss as usual. You can expect your new veneer to last for more than 20 years!

Teeth veneers are a versatile solution that can meet many needs. Here are some of the most common teeth issues they address:

  • Repairs teeth that are broken or damaged
  • Adds strength to weak teeth
  • Improves the appearance of smiles by brightening dark or stained teeth
  • Veneers fill gaps between teeth

Despite your reasons for getting veneers, you can expect to improve the shape and function of your teeth in about a month. During this time, your custom veneer will be carefully matched with the color of your real teeth to ensure a seamless and natural appearance.

Types of Veneers

The main purpose of the veneer is to hide stained, chipped, and deformed teeth. They can also be used to fill in unsightly gaps. The dentist near you will fix it directly on the front surface of the tooth. Veneers are a fast, safe, and beautiful solution for minor dental problems. Dental veneers can be composed of three different materials: composite materials and porcelain.

Composite veneers

The composite veneer is made of resin and can be prepared in our dentist’s office in Elmhurst. We will prepare it and then apply it directly to the teeth in one visit.

The advantages of composite veneers are that; several composite veneers can be fixed at a time. They are more cost-effective and easier to repair than porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers

These require two visits to a dentist near you, and during the first visit, the dentist will remove a bit of tooth structure and leave a precise mark to send to the laboratory. After the porcelain veneers in Elmhurst are ready, we will glue them to your teeth during the second visit.

Advantages of porcelain veneers: They are more durable, more resistant to chips, and their color will not change over time.

Lumineers

These provide a unique and extremely conservative method for dental veneers that can have an amazing effect on your smile. They are comfortable and have a natural appearance, and minimise the impact on natural teeth. Usually, dental veneers require a certain degree of modification to the teeth to work properly.

The advantage of Lumineers is that they are made from a special ceramic mixture, then made thinner, unlike porcelain and ceramic veneers, while maintaining strength and gloss.

Procedure

Placing veneers in Elmhurst requires at least two appointments with our dentist. First, a local anesthetic will be used to minimize the pain and discomfort of the tooth being treated. Then, your dentist will prepare these teeth to accommodate the veneer by removing a small amount of enamel. This will create enough space for the veneer to fit the front of the teeth.

An imprint of the prepared tooth will be left and sent to the dental laboratory, where the veneer will be created. Temporary teeth veneers can be placed on the prepared teeth to protect them until the finished veneer returns. This usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

After the veneer comes back from the dental laboratory, you will return to our office, and we will place the veneer on your teeth. Your dentist will remove the temporary veneer and place the permanent veneer on it to check its fit and make adjustments as needed. After cleaning, polishing, and etching the teeth, a special glue will be used to bond the finish to the teeth permanently. It will then be cured using a special light beam to harden it.
